"Tell Others About Me": Unveiling the Third Person of the Trinity

“Tell others about Me.”

In the world of modern Christianity, it's all too easy to overlook the significance of the Holy Spirit, the often quieter and less-discussed member of the Holy Trinity. As the majestic works of God the Father and the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ take the spotlight, the Holy Spirit's role in the lives of believers can sometimes fade into the background. However, it's essential for believers to recognize the profound importance of the Holy Spirit in our redemptive journey. The Holy Spirit is not just an abstract force or a distant power, but He is a person who desires to be actively engaged in our lives, guiding us, empowering us, and drawing us into deeper fellowship with Himself, the Son, and the Father.

The Holy Spirit comes to indwell every believer from the moment they believe the Gospel; when they believe in Jesus’s divinity, His final atoning sacrifice on the Cross for the sins of the world, and His death, burial, and bodily resurrection. The Holy Spirit both indwells every believer and is with every believer (John 14:17). The Holy Spirit takes away the heart of stone and puts in a heart of flesh, bringing reconciliation between creation and Creator (Ezekiel 36:26). Furthermore, the Holy Spirit marks every born-again believer, on the forehead (Revelation 7:3-4), with a seal of His presence and indwelling resurrection life (Ephesians 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, Ephesians 4:30). He is so worthy of our recognition, admiration, and praise. He longs to fellowship with you. Let’s remove the veil of mystery (and any trace of ignorance) and open up our hearts to hear and learn about the Holy Spirit. Here’s what what wants you to know about Him:

“I am their Counselor.”

The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, our divine advisor, the One who imparts wisdom and understanding. Just as Jesus promised in John 14:26, "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you." In moments of confusion and doubt, the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts, offering insight and direction rooted in God's Word. He helps us navigate the complexities of life and guides us toward aligning our decisions with God's perfect will. He does this in a myriad of ways, which are often tailored to each believer. He will bring verses of scripture to mind, speak to you through your mind (1 Corinthians 2:16), and may speak audibly to get your attention.

“I am their Helper.”

The Holy Spirit is not merely an abstract concept; He is our Helper, the One who comes alongside us in our journey. He is an ever-present Helper. Romans 8:26 assures us, "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness." When we are weak, burdened, or overwhelmed, the Holy Spirit provides divine strength and comfort. He intercedes for us in prayer, bridging the gap between our human limitations and the vast resources of God's power (Romans 8:27). Just as a faithful friend stands by our side through thick and thin, the Holy Spirit is our constant companion, ever ready to lend a hand in our times of need.

“I am their Trusted Guide.”

In the modern world, where countless voices clamor for our attention, it can be challenging to discern the right path. However, believers are not left to navigate life's journey alone. The Holy Spirit is our Trusted Guide, illuminating the way before us. As Psalm 143:10 declares, "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground." When we yield to His guidance, He leads us away from darkness and confusion, guiding us toward the paths of righteousness and truth.

“I am their Advocate.”

In a world filled with trials, accusations, and spiritual battles, the Holy Spirit takes on the role of our Advocate. Just as Christ assured us in John 15:26, "But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me." The Holy Spirit testifies to the truth of our faith and stands as our defense in the earthly courts. When doubt and opposition arise, He strengthens our conviction and reminds us of the unshakable foundation upon which we stand. In times of trial and persecution, the Holy Spirit provides us with the words to speak, as Jesus explained in Matthew 10:19-20, "When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."

“I am their Fighter.”

As believers, we find ourselves engaged in a constant battle against the forces of darkness. The Holy Spirit equips us for this spiritual warfare, empowering us to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. In Ephesians 6:17, we read, "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." The Holy Spirit wields the sword of God's Word within us, granting us the strength to overcome the temptations and deceptions of the evil one.

“I am their Enabler.”

The Holy Spirit not only helps us in times of trouble but also empowers us to fulfill our God-given purpose. In Acts 1:8, Jesus promises, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Through His presence within us, the Holy Spirit enables us to live as effective witnesses of Christ's love and grace. He transforms us from the inside out, aligning our desires and passions with God's heart. He gives us supernatural grace and power to occupy the earth (as citizens of the Kingdom of God), until Jesus returns, through conviction, healing, deliverance, tongues, prophecy, wisdom, knowledge, and miracles. All these serve as proof that we do not believe the Gospel in vain, but that Jesus Christ is alive today. As Apostle Paul put it, “For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power” (1 Corinthians 4:20). This very power dwells in us, as born-again believers of Jesus.

“I am their Encounter.”

Above all, the Holy Spirit invites us into an intimate encounter with the living God. He is not a distant force but a personal being who desires relationship with each believer. As 1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us, "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?" Through the Holy Spirit, we experience God's presence dwelling within us, guiding our thoughts, emotions, and actions. He communicates the Father's love to us and enables us to experience the transformative power of His grace. Holy Spirit brings the manifest presence of God, as God Himself on earth. Whenever you have an encounter with the Lord God Almighty, it is an encounter with the Holy Spirit, who Jesus sent to the earth after He ascended to Heaven (John 14:18, Luke 24:49).

A Call to Daily Fellowship: Embracing the Holy Spirit's Presence

In a world that often seeks instant gratification and external solutions, believers are called to cultivate a daily fellowship (2 Corinthians 13:14) with the Holy Spirit. He is not merely a concept to be understood but a person to be encountered. As we spend time each day in prayer and meditation (Joshua 1:8), we open ourselves to His guidance, His comfort, and His power. The Holy Spirit's indwelling presence is a constant reminder that we are never alone; He walks with us through every triumph and trial. Let us heed the call to seek the Holy Spirit's guidance, allowing His presence to shape our lives, transform our hearts, and draw us closer to the Triune God who loves us beyond measure.
